The SISTEM® approach

The SISTEM approach to learning is simple; focus on ensuring participants both understand and retain the information presented. Each SISTEM course encompasses the three basic learning styles — auditory, kinesthetic and visual — and is taught at a middle school education level in English and Spanish.

SISTEM pedagogy is based on research that demonstrates:

  • trainees learn and retain information better when there is significant visual metaphor to attract and hold their attention
  • the optimal attention span for trainees is under 20 minutes
  • trainee involvement and interactivity throughout a training session increases retention and participation
  • group activities increase retention and team building
  • workplace training is more effective if the training is directly related to workplace experiences

    Competency-based learning

    SISTEM content is built upon standardized learning objectives or competencies. Working with industry experts, we develop each course based on specific criteria using the latest regulations, standards and practices to make sure the proper competencies are communicated.

    Interactive assessment and remediation

    Following every competency, a series of multiple-choice questions are presented. SISTEM reiterates the learning objective based on the performance of the class and alters the question to allow all participants to answer correctly.

    Lightning round questions

    Each SISTEM course concludes with a fun “Lightning Round” that challenges participants to answer up to 10 fast-paced questions. While the game doesn’t affect a user’s final score, it’s often the most anticipated part of the course. The participant that answers the most questions correctly is recognized onscreen to the group. It’s a great motivator for users, and many customers present incentives or rewards to the winners.
